BELLBROOK FIRE/EMS

Special Operations Team

Team leader:
Lt. Anthony Bizzarro anthony@bellbrookfire.org
Lt. Gregg Nartker gregg@bellbrookfire.org

The Special Operations Team has one of the most important jobs next to putting out fires: preventing them!

The team conducts inspections of all local businesses, advising them of hazards and corrective measures, and issuing occupancy permits when conditions are safe. The team also conducts specialty inspections at schools, day care facilities and even private residences.

Another area the team handles is new construction. The team is responsible for inspecting fire suppression systems (sprinklers and standpipes) and ensures that construction complies with local fire codes.

The Special Operations Team was instrumental in a very important law that requires all new commercial occupancies to be outfitted with Knox Boxes, allowing the fire department to use a secure key to gain access to the building. This is especially useful when alarm systems activate and investigation into the cause is required, but access is restricted.

The Special Operations Team also is responsible for technical rescue and investigation for the department.
