Bellbrook firefighter receives recognition during EMS week

Taking a moment during EMS week to honor those who go above and beyond, Firefighter/Paramedic Athena Robbins received an Extra Measure of Service, or EMS, award during ceremonies at Courthouse Square in downtown Dayton.

FF Robbins

The Greater Miami Valley EMS Council presented the award to Robbins. She was nominated for her dedication to the Emergency Medical Service in Bellbrook and for outstanding work with the department's safety and prevention programs.

Robbins serves as a career member of the department, and is a CPR and first aid instructor. She also secured grant funding from the State of Ohio to develop and teach a new babysitting safety program, entitled SafeSitters.

Chief Scott Hall was very proud of Robbins' accomplishments.

"The name of the award, Extra Measure of Service, truly describes the tireless commitment of Firefighter/Paramedic Robbins to our organization and the local EMS community as well," Hall said.

"I am so pleased that she was selected as one of four regional recipients of this great acknowledgment of service and dedication to the emergency medical field," he added.
