BELLBROOK FIRE/EMS

Accident sends one victim to Miami Valley Hospital

Fire and emergency medical crews from Bellbrook Fire/EMS responded to an auto accident Friday night, which sent one victim to Miami Valley Hospital by Careflight helicopter.

Crews arrived shortly after 2230 hours to find the young male driver suffering from multiple traumatic injuries. To make matters worse, rescuers had to remove the driver's door to allow for sufficient access the patient.

"Firefighters from Medic 2 and Rescue 2 were able to remove the door and extricate the patient in just eight minutes, which helped speed his transport to the helicopter," Firefighter Ben Abes said.

The victim's injuries were described as serious.

Officers from the Bellbrook Police Department are still investigating the accident.
