BELLBROOK FIRE/EMS

Bellbrook Fire Department
K-9 "Frietag"

Frietag is also teamed with, Bellbrook Lieutenant Athena Robbins (Firefighter/Paramedic.) Frietag is a German Shepard and originally came from Rottweil, Germany. Frietag also comes to work with Athena on her scheduled shift days and lives with her at home during her scheduled time off.

A typical day for Frietag at the Fire Station involves participating in morning checks of the department apparatus and equipment. This is where he is exposed to sights, smells and sounds that he might encounter during his work searching for victims of a disaster. Frietag might in his day at the fire station, participate in public relations activities. Frietag is an extremely driven dog and this makes him a wonderful search dog. Frietag trains with his partner Athena each day. Their intense training involves obedience, agility, direction control and air scenting techniques that will move Frietag and Athena towards successfully attaining their FEMA Certification.

Frietag's name means Friday in German. He has spent time in many Countries including, Mexico, Switzerland, and has also traveled across the USA with his previous owner Milan. Milan misses Frietag but he knew that Frietag was meant to be a working dog and, calls often to check on his progress. Frietag has adapted well to life in the Fire House and he is happy to share his time there with Gator and Athena. He is a wonderful, happy dog and keeps Athena laughing at his antics.
